How to use OmniStudy

Getting started

When you first open OmniStudy you are guided through a short setup:

1. Enter your name (a nickname is fine).
2. Pick your academic level: GCSE or A-Level.
3. Choose your exam board: AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC/CBAC, or add a custom board such as CIE or IB.
4. Add your first subject and the app generates topic lists matched to your board’s specification.

No email is needed to start. You can optionally create a free cloud account later to back up progress and sync across devices. The whole app works in English and Welsh; switch language any time in Settings.

Study sessions

Open a subject, pick a topic and start a session. Each session can include:

• Notes: focused explanations of what you need to know, at your tier.
• Flashcards: flip cards for active recall. Mark each one Got it or Need practice.
• Multiple choice questions: instant feedback, and your scores feed your progress tracking.
• Exam questions: written answers marked by AI against mark-scheme criteria, with your mark, the points you hit and missed, and how to improve.

Type formulas naturally: H2O, x^2 and ms^-1 are all understood. In Maths, marking follows UK conventions, so correct working earns method marks even when the final answer is wrong.

Past papers

Past papers are split into individual questions with mark schemes. Work through a paper question by question, get each answer marked as you go, and stop mid-paper: your progress is saved so you can resume later, on any device if you use a cloud account.

Revision games

The Arcade turns recall practice into seven game modes, including:

• Mastery Climb: one life, infinite questions. How high can you go?
• Fact or Fake: rapid-fire true or false.
• Vocab Vault: match technical terms to definitions.
• Parent vs Student: a turn-based battle over 20 questions. Ties go to sudden death.
• 60 Second Rush: answer as many as you can in a minute.
• Essay Elite: timed essay answers with full AI marking and feedback.

AI tutor

The tutor is available whenever you are stuck. Ask it to explain a concept, walk through a worked example, quiz you on a weak area, or suggest what to revise next. Be specific for the best results: “explain osmosis for AQA GCSE Biology” beats “help me with biology”. The tutor is included on Premium and Pro plans.

Progress, mastery and predicted grades

Every topic has a mastery level that rises as you practise. From 80% you unlock Elite tier with harder, application-style questions; from 95% you reach Mastered and face the toughest exam-style content.

OmniStudy also estimates a grade from your practice performance, weighted towards written exam questions. Treat it as a signpost to weak areas: predictions are estimates and do not guarantee any exam result.

Planner and exam countdown

The planner tracks your upcoming papers and shows a live countdown to your next exam. Exam dates sync automatically for your board and level, and you can refresh them any time from Settings.

Parents and teachers

Students can link a parent with a one-time code from Settings, giving the parent a free portal with study time and progress. Teachers can create classes students join with a class code, set homework including real past papers, and see live class analytics. Plans

• Free: one subject with full AI marking, games, past papers and the planner.
• Premium (£4.99 a month): up to 5 subjects, AI tutor and knowledge organisers.
• Pro (£9.99 a month): unlimited subjects and everything in Premium.
• Teacher Pro (£9.99 a month): multiple classes with 30 seats each, across up to 3 different subjects, every student with Pro included.

If you downgrade, nothing is deleted: extra subjects become inactive and your progress returns when you upgrade again.
